Gulshan Devaiah: HUNTERRR 2 is all about Radhika and my character
|GULSHAN DEVAIAH AT HUNTERRR PRESS CONFERENCE|
On contacting Gulshan, he revealed, “A lot of people were approaching director Harshavardhan and asking him about HUNTERRR sequel plans. Initially, he had no plans making a sequel and was very happy to have made HUNTERRR. However, on people’s demand he thought of couple of ideas and called me. He met Radhika and me and discussed about HUNTERRR 2.”
Nevertheless, he also added that HUNTERRR 2 is not being made for the sake of it. “Harshavardhan has couple of ideas that are really exciting for the sequel. Sometimes you have good script but when you execute it into a full length film it may not turn out the way it was planned. The onus of HUTERRR 2 to happen totally rests on Harshavardhan. If he is confident, then he will make it. We don’t want to unnecessary milk it just because HUNTERR had worked and people want to see the second part. We don’t want a sequel just because we can do. We will do HUNTERRR 2 only if it is worth it.”
As the sequel was announced, Gulshan mentioned that the sequel will be wilder and crazier. When we probed him, Gulshan chuckled, “I really don’t know what I was thinking when I said it. But yes the idea is really wild and crazy. But a full-fledged script is yet to be written. It’s still at the concept stage. Once the director pens the script, we will get to know how wild and crazy it is. But Harshavardhan will go ahead only if he feels good about it, otherwise we will scrap it. That’s what we have agreed upon so far. HUNTERRR 2 will be wilder and funnier than the first film. When I heard the concept, I was completely in splits.”
Gulshan played ‘Mandar’, a terribly insecure man in Part 1, till he found Tripti (Radhika Apte) who accepted him with all his flaws. However, as per Gulshan the film will not go down the rocky track of the married couple fed up of each other, something which has been already covered in TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS.
After playing a womanizer in major part of the film HUNTERRR, one wonders in what way Gulshan’s character will progress in the second installment. When asked if it will go on the lines of MASTI series (which highlights that boys will be boys!), Gulshan cleared, “No it’s not like that. It’s not going to go on those lines. If I say anything beyond crazier and wilder, it will be a spoiler and ruin the whole idea. There is a surprise element in the film. It may be a sequel or prequel I am not going to spoil it for you. I am going to keep the mystery intact. A lot of original cast would be repeated. But the second part is all about Mandar and Radhika’s character. It’s going to be progression, of course because there is another person (Radhika Apte) in Mandar’s life now. So it remains to be seen like how there is natural progression of the character.”
Harshavardhan and Gulshan have also come to a mutual conclusion that, if any one person from the team does not like the screenplay before the film rolls, the complete project will be thrashed without a second thought.
“We all have to be confident. I really appreciate that Phantom, Harshavardhan and Shemaroo are all standing by it. We don’t want to milk and make sequel because it’s a sequel season in Bollywood. We will go ahead if only it’s better than the first film. It should be a good movie,” Gulshan said.
On a parting note, Gulshan divulged when the film will hit the floors, “If everything goes well, then we will start by January and February and also once Radhika is done with the Rajinikanth starrer.”
