The sequel of the 2017 hit thriller film HAPPY DEATH DAY has been titled HAPPY DEATH 2U.

Being directed and penned by Christopher Landon, the film features original lead Jessica Rothe, reports variety.com.

The plot details have not been revealed much, though a synopsis said Rothe will discover that "dying over and over was surprisingly easier than the dangers that lie ahead".

The original part, which garnered over $122 million worldwide on a reported $4.8 million budget, follows young co-ed Tree (Rothe) who awakens from a one-night stand and slinks off into a daylong birthday celebration, only to be brutally murdered at a party that evening. Instead of the afterlife, however, she reawakens once again on the stranger's bed and is forced to relive the same events "Groundhog Day."

Apart from Rothe, actors like Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine and Rachel Matthews will also star in the film.
