Every year some people (with-not-so-happening life) spend their New Year’s Eve in front of their idiot box watching the same old Award shows with their same old categories i.e Best Actor, Best Film etc.

This has become a mundane routine, so in order to break away from this lethal routine here we present you few very funky and never-heard-before-of categories under which our B-town stars should be honoured with based upon their talent. After all, these days it’s not just about showcasing your acting prowess or your cinematic skills as Bollywood has moved way beyond all this.

Gone are the days when being a good actor was prerequisite for stardom. Now there are various other factors too that determine a stardom (parties, red carpet appearance, cover pages, being frequently spotted, social media et al). Throughout 2017, we witnessed our publicity-hungry stars making noise with everything but their projects.

So, Ladies and Gentlemen presenting you some of the quirkiest awards of 2017. Here’s the list of the stars who bagged these not-so-coveted titles. Have a look and enjoy:

1) Most Spotted celeb of the year – Malaika Arora
Every media house must have hired a special team just to cover these celebrities who are not in news because of their work but only because of being spotted at various places throughout the year. This year sexy mommy Malaika Arora hands down bagged this award thanks to being spotted every single day either at her gym or at some party/event.

2) Fitness freak of the year - Kareena Kapoor Khan and Malaika Arora
Both Kareena Kapoor and Malaika Arora have jointly won this award as these B-town girls gave some serious fitness goals to all mothers out there.

Throughout the year Baby Taimur gave the paparazzi a field day but no one is complaining. This one-year-old cutie-pie is surely the social media sensation of 2017 thereby beating the likes of Esha Gupta, Disha Patani among others who resorted to skin-show to garner attention something baby Taimur does just with his smile.

5) Favourite Star Kid of the Year – Taimur Ali Khan
Most of the star kids are adorable but no one can beat Taimur when it comes to being the most popular star kid of 2017.

10) Cover Page Star of the Year – Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh was the one star who appeared on cover pages of numerous magazines last year. Ranveer didn’t have a single release in 2017 but still managed to grab eye balls thanks to his quirky dressing style and his fierce look as Alauddin Khilji in PADMAVATI. The announcement of Kabir Khan’s ’83 made him the much sought after actor and that lead to him featuring on cover page of several magazines.

Throughout the year Priyanka Chopra made several appearances at various red carpet events but her appearance at Met Gala 2017 was the most talked about, well for some obvious reasons.

12) Most Trolled Star of the Year- Priyanka Chopra
Like we said earlier, PeeCee made several appearances at various red carpet events throughout last year and surprisingly she was trolled for majority of her appearances (Remember her Trench coat and Kaju Katli gown?)

PeeCee was even trolled for flaunting her legs while meeting PM Narendra Modi. Not just that she was trolled for posing with a tricolor scarf on Independence Day eve. In short compared to her colleagues it was PeeCee who was trolled the most last year.

13) Best Celebrity Tiff of the Year- Kangana – Hrithik and Kapil Sharma-Sunil Grover
In B-town the infamous spat between Kangana and Hrithik gave enough fodder to gossip columns to work throughout the last year.

In Telly land we had the comedy king Kapil Sharma’s fallout with his colleague Sunil Grover. The fight between them took an ugly turn to an extent that Sunil Grover walked out of THE KAPIL SHARMA SHOW and eventually the show was called off citing that they will be back with another season.

14) Best Copied..Oops Inspired Song of the Year- ‘Swag Se Swagat’and ‘Nashe Si Chadh gayi’
Vishal-Shekhar showed us the classic example of being inspired by others’ work then tweaking it so nicely that the need to give credit to the original composition doesn’t arise. Not just once they did it twice and fortunately or unfortunately their ‘inspired’ composition went on to become huge hit!

15) Best Publicity tool for Producers - Censor Board
2017 witnessed many tiffs between CBFC and filmmakers throughout the year. These clashes of opinion amongst the makers and CBFC led to the film gaining popularity free of cost. So doesn’t that make for a best publicity tool?
(Take for example films like LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA, NUDE, S DURGA and PADMAVATI among others)

16) Worst Promotional Song of the Year – Phurr Phurr from JAB HARRY MET SEJAL
I mentioned this song to a friend and she replied “Yeh kaunsa gaana hai?” So I guess that explains everything. DJ Diplo will now think twice before taking other Bollywood offers.

Come on! Do you really need explanation for this?

19) Party Animal of the Year - Karan Johar
Pick out any birthday bash, or special screening of 2017 and you will find Karan Johar in it. When not attending one the filmmaker threw one himself and thereby bagged the ‘Party Animal’ award of 2017.

20) Best News-maker of the Year – Kangana Ranaut
Well Kangana is undoubtedly the actress who was in news throughout the year thanks to her two releases RANGOON, SIMRAN and her infamous spat with Hrithik Roshan. Kangana was also in news for calling Karan Johar ‘The flag bearer of Nepotism’.Ketan Mehta alleging that she hijacked his Rani Laxmi Bai project was another episode which kept Kangana in news.

21) Sympathy Award of the year - Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali
These two artists faced the brunt of taking creative liberty in PADMAVATI and since the trailer release of their film have been bombarded with several threats. Though we agree that playing with facts amounts to distortion but threatening to behead someone for doing their jobs is uncalled for.

(Disclaimer: To beloved Bollywood, rest assured it was all done in good humor and is a light-hearted take. The above article is a figment of imagination of the author, the website doesn't hold any responsibility)
