Hero seems to be the new rage!

Hero seems to have some magic. Last year it was HEROPANTI with the signature tune of the flute from the film that made its presence felt. Playing hero was Tiger Shroff, the original hero's son. The film was decent with decent performances from Tiger and Kriti Sanon, the leading lady. It showcased Tiger's talent, physique and screen presence. The lad is certain to go miles.

Last Friday, HERO was reborn; 32 years later, same story different cast. The less said about the lead pair, the better. Athiya Shetty and Sooraj Pancholi have a long way to go. The movie was a disaster and the presentation left a lot to be desired. The entire focus was on Sooraj's body and fight scenes.

Hopefully when Sooraj returns again on screen, we will see some action in the acting department.

How Jackie Shroff became Hero

While on the movie HERO, it would be interesting to note that Jackie Shroff was sent to Subhash Ghai by Ad filmmaker Kailash Surendranath. Since those were Jackie's modelling days, and Kailash knew that Ghai was looking for a guy, he asked Jackie to meet the filmmaker. The rest as they say is history.

Jackie became a rage overnight and established his credentials as an actor. In fact, he was heralded as the next Amitabh Bachchan.

Kailash Surendranath and his two Heroes!

And since we are on heroes, here's another piece of information. If Kailash had a hand in Jackie becoming a Hero, he also had a hand in the biggest Khan of the industry taking his baby steps in front of the camera.

I am talking about Salman Khan. Kailash was looking for a male model to do an underwater film for Campa Cola. His wife, Aarti, informed him that she had seen a boy in the Sea Rock hotel pool and was impressed with his swimming. 'Send him to me,' Kailash told his wife.

Salman went to meet Kailash who was not so impressed at first sight. 'He is a kid' he told Aarti. Not one to give up, Aarti asked her husband to ask the lad to take off his shirt!

Impressed with what he saw, the Ad was filmed and Salman has never stopped taking his shirt off ever since!

So there you have it, the story of the man who made not one, but two heroes. And both Salman and Jackie have been friends with the Surendranaths ever since.
