Rani Mukerji in an attempt to reinvent herself in the film industry takes on the role of Naina Mathur, a teacher with Tourette’s syndrome under the banner of YRF productions. HICHKI, as the name suggests shows Naina’s character battling through the metaphorical hiccups which involuntarily causes her to twitch and causes a speech impediment. The film shows the struggles of Naina having to deal with numerous rejections because of her disorder and has to teach a group of rebellious and forsaken children whom she has to nurture them while also dealing with societal pressures and judgement. Her journey shows her determination, courage to overcome the odds and pursue her dreams and through these little victories she hopes to inspire and elevate the less fortunate and change the perception around the social stigma that goes with it.
The latest song ‘Phir Kya Hai Gham’ from HICHKI captures this spirit perfectly.
Shilpa Rao serenades us with a beautiful song to brace life and to inspire us to overcome our difficulties and face them unflinchingly. The song is an ode to remind us that each one of us is battling our problems and perfectly describes the essence of the film. The lyrics are penned by Aditya Sharma and Neeraj Rajawat, who have strived to embody the message of the film into a song. ‘Phir Kya Hai Gham’ is the perfect musical salute to the spirit of Hichki, and the video of the song gives a lighthearted, yet powerful message out.
Written and Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, the film is set to touch the hearts of moviegoers on 23rd March.
