Madhur Bhandarkar is a director who needs no introduction. He is the flag bearer of making realistic films that are mirror to the society.
His upcoming film INDU SARKAR is inspired from true incidents based in the backdrop of emergency declared in 1975.
At the trailer launch of the event on being asked about how much is the film’s story inspired from true events, its director Madhur replied, “In order to make this film I did some research and read books like Emergency Retold by Kuldip Nayar, The Emergency by Coomi Kapoor then I read about Shah Commission. I researched at Nehru Centre and I got lot of help from Archives in Delhi. So our film is based on true events and we have just added few fictional characters. And there are lots of other characters in this film who are inspired from real characters. I can say that the ratio of reality and fiction in this film is 70:30. “
He further added, “When you make a film on the back drop of Emergency so naturally the event that has been documented and written about forms the part of the story. So the audience will be able to co-relate with lot of things when they watch this film.”
When asked about if he is anticipating any trouble from the censors since this film talks about members of Gandhi family to which he replied, “Thankfully they passed the trailer without any qualms so I hope they will be very lenient to the film as well.”
