Inaamulhaq wins international acclaim for NAKKASH

After winning many accolades for his performance in FILMISTAAN and AIRLIFT  Inaamulhaq has now bagged the best actor at the 8th Annual DCSAFF (DC South Asian Film Festival) held on 10th September 2018 in Washington DC, (USA) for outstanding performance in his upcoming film NAKKASH.

The festival takes place annually, showcasing the best in alternative cinema from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. It was Adil Hussain who won this award last year for his film MUKTI BHAVAN.

The elated Inaamulhaq expressed his feeling on his social media account saying, “ Ek saal pehle zameen mein kuchh beej boye they….pehli konpal phooti hai” …..Humbled to hear the News! Thank you #DCSAFF for #BestActor #Award. Congratulations to the entire team of #Nakkash.  #PictureAbhBaakiHai “

Earlier this year the first look poster of NAKKASH was unveiled at the India pavilion at prestigious Cannes Film Festival 2018. Inaamulhaq, who essays the title role says “This news is like a breath of fresh air. How would you feel when you are lost to view and are waiting for your lifetime dream to come true, and you hear this news, your first film as a protagonist, first festival and the best actor award. My faith is optimism has increased and this has motivated me more to dare to dream. Gratitude for everyone, especially for the makers of NAKKASH who believed in me. Looking forward to many such achievements for the film.”

NAKKASH, a joint venture of Jalsa pictures, Padmaja Productions and AB Infosoft, is the story of a Muslim craftsman who uses his craft of engraving in the Hindu Temples in Banaras. The film revolves around the impact of changing religious and political scenario on his life.

According to Zaigham Imam, the director of the film NAKKASH is not just a sensitive film but also reflects India’s art and culture in many ways. The fine colors of Hindu-Muslim relationship and their social dynamics has not yet been seen by the audience. NAKKASH will not preach but would force people to re-think and put prejudice aside.

Inaamulhaq will also be seen in Nikhil Advani’s web series HASMUKH  playing a different role in an altogether a new look as usual.
