Is Ekta Kapoor's new brand of 'feminism' to objectify men?
Producer Ekta Kapoor has apparently decided to objectify men in her next sex comedy! While item songs have been flagged for objectifying women, Ekta decided to take matters in her own hands and made changes to an item song by adding a ‘feminism’ angle to it. Her upcoming sex comedy film KYA KOOL HAI HUM 3 will feature a song that will rather objectify men and be more ‘feministic’.
While initially the ace music composers Sajid - Wajid had recorded the song with the girl singing 'Oh boy, I am your soft toy' , Ekta on hearing this insisted the song be re-recorded for the bombshell Mandana Karimi to instead address the boys Tusshar Kapoor and Aftab Shivdasani as 'her' soft toys. Eventually the song was re-recorded with 'Oh boy, you are my soft toy'. Talk about women power!
But our question to Ekta is when did feminism become about objectifying men? Ekta may be all about the ‘sanskars’ in her television soaps but she doesn’t mind shedding inhibitions on the big screen. But may we just add here that, this seems more like a marketing gimmick than chest-thumping feminism.
