Jatin Grewal reveals more on Mukesh Bhatt's 'Vaasta'

Location: Mikanos. The shooting of Mukesh Bhatt's latest flick VAASTA was in progress at the elite disco pub in South Mumbai. Director Tanuja Chandra was busy explaining the situation of the song to choreographer Manur. Mahima Chaudhary and a new stag model with a height of 6 feet were rehearsing their steps. Later on, we learnt that his name was Jatin Grewal. In between the shots we met the new guy in town who promises to paint the town red.

Jatin Grewal is a model by profession. Campaigning for Vimal Suitings and Shirtings for four years, he even participated in ramp walks. Then followed a stint with music videos. But destiny had different things in store for this Cancerian. Jatin alias Bunty Grewal foray into the silver screen has a glitter in store. His debut film was Subhash Ghai's RAHUL opposite Neha. Directed by Prakash Jha the film was an average hit. He looks like the first model to have been paired with big heroines. The story goes on his second film VAASTA with the Bhatt camp, is a mediocre film. Here he has been paired opposite Mahima Chaudhary. He has one more film up his sleeve and that too opposite Sonali Bendre for which the shooting of the film is being held in Hyderabad. This Telugu film is directed by B. Gopal. All his roles differ from one another. In the pipeline there are couple of new films from big banners. One is produced and directed by Dayal Nihalani and will be launched in April.

Is he setting Bollywood on fire by working with celebrity actresses! "The heroines are directors choice. I am lucky and happy to work opposite them. It is indeed a privilege. Working with them were a novel experience. They are so accomplished, courteous and makes you feel comfortable on the sets," confides Jatin.

He is aware of the myth that models cannot act syndrome. "Infact models are better actors. Models are actually habitual in hogging the limelight. They are not camera conscious and they can clearly keep their heads on their shoulders," says Jatin. He had taken acting lessons from Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting Academy. He has even learnt swimming, dancing, horse riding and is a regular as far as physical training is concerned.

He is thankful for his mentor Subhash Ghai and director Prakash Jha for having reposed faith in him. Working for the Bhatt camp was like a silver lining on the cloud. It is real fun working with producer Mukesh Bhatt and intellectual director Tanuja Chandra, chimes Jatin. He will always remain grateful to them. Here he is playing the role of a superstar. VAASTA is a musical thriller. This is the first song being picturised on him and Mahima for the film. Priyanshu also plays one of the other male leads.

Versatile roles excite him. He opts for roles, which have strong characterisation, and leaves an impact on the audiences. He is open for negative roles too. In times when the industry is passing through a bad phase, it has given rise to many models. Jatin Grewal is the new crop from the same breed. Film industries need good actors and that too in abundance. Welcome aboard...
