Kailash Satyarthi backs Brahmanand's feature film, JHALKI
Trust National award winning filmmaker Brahmanand S Siingh to leave no stone unturned when backing a project that has the potential to impact lives. The recent one being a feature film titled JHALKI starring Boman Irani, Sanjay Suri, Divya Dutta, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Govind Namdev, Joy Sengupta, Akhilendra Mishra, among others.
Siingh who is known for his award-winning documentaries Pancham Unmixed (IMDb 8.8/10) and Kaagaz Ki Kashti (IMDb9.4/10), now makes his feature debut with Jhalki, which tells the story of a brave girl who sets out in search for her brother, initially started off as a storyline developed with Prakash Jha.
The story has been inspired by the exemplary work that Nobel Peace Laureate, Kailash Satyarthi has been doing. After watching the film, Satyarthi said, “Jhalki is a reflection of optimism, hope and resilience, which are much needed today. I’m very moved and inspired by the little girl’s courage and the way she fearlessly navigates the real world.”
Siingh who is planning the release early next year said, “I am very grateful to Kailash ji for his unwavering support. At the same time, I must emphatically clarify that it is not a biopic on Kailash Satyarthi, the way it has been reported at a few places.”
When asked about his future plans, he said, “At Mobius Films, we have some very powerful feature films, almost ready to go on floor. In addition, is a vision of a very ambitious series of biographical films, which will be like a prized National Archive of our heritage and legacy.”
JHALKI – Tale of a Tireless Sparrow, a film by Brahmanand S Singh, is produced by Mobius Films & OMG, with Aanand Chavan. Vinayak Gawande and Jayesh Parekh are the co producers and Tanvi Jain is the co-director. The film, now ready for festivals and acquisitions worldwide, releases in India in February, 2019.
