The premier new release of the week, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Saif, Shahid and Kangana starrer, RANGOON, was not expected to embark on a huge start, but the 15 percent start (on an average) comes as somewhat of a disappointment. Having said that, the film did see a noticeable improvement during the latter shows and has to up the ante further, during the remaining days of the weekend, to transcend into the realms of success. As per rough early estimates, the first day appears to be in the 5-6 crore range.RANGOON AND JOLLY LLB 2
The other releases of the week, Pooja Entertainment India Ltd.'s MONA DARLING, Nana Patekar & Mahie Gill's WEDDING ANNIVERSARY and the Bipulendra Haloi directed 9 O'CLOCK etc , fared even worse.
Meanwhile, last week’s THE GHAZI ATTACK managed a fair show, netting 10 crore plus during the opening week, just from the Hindi (dubbed) version.
Concluding with Subhash Kapoor’s Akshay Kumar starrer, JOLLY LLB 2, the film maintained reasonably during the second week, zipping past the 100 crore mark (exact figure awaited) nonchalantly, and is thus another century for Akki and needless to add, a HIT!
JOLLY LLB2 is also doing quite well in the overseas, grossing over $5m, with $1,575,000 (estimated) from the US, thus far.
