After a series of setbacks, mainly due to Salman’s TUBELIGHT and Ranbir’s JAGGA JASOOS, there is some hope for the beleaguered industry, in the form of last Friday’s new releases.
Coming first to Prakash Jha’s Ratna Pathak and Konkona Sen Sharma starrer, LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA, after a dull opening day, the limited release film saw a phenomenal pick up during the remaining two days of the weekend, netting close to 6 crore. Given the low investment (5.50-6 crore), the film will recover it, just from the theatrical run.
The other release of the week, Sabbir Khan’s Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Nidhi Agarwal starrer, MUNNA MICHAEL, too held up well, netting in excess of 22 crore during the opening weekend from India.
Having said that, both the mentioned films have to put up at least a decent show during the weekdays to be pronounced a success.
