Guru Thakur debuts as playback singer

For the past few years lyricist Guru Thakur has been popular not only in Maharashtra but pan India. His writings have been popular overseas too and you never know one of his songs would be playing on some international radio stations and entertaining the listeners. Guru’s lyrics entertaining the Marathi listeners there is a matter of pride for the film industry here. After dominating as a lyricist, Guru Thakur has now turned his attention towards playback singing. KRUTANT, an upcoming Marathi feature film will feature Guru Thakur as a playback singer.


KRUTANT featuring Sandeep Kulkarni (of Dombivali Fast fame) in a unique get up is again become a talk of town for Guru Thakur’s playback singing in the movie. Produced under the banner of Rain Rose Films KRUTANT is produced by Mihir Shah and directed by Dutta Mohan Bhandare. The first look itself was a testimony of KRUTANT being a different film and it’s story-dialogues have been penned by Dutta Mohan Bhandare.


Singing is not a new thing for a lyricist. The lyricist can do complete justice to the requirement of the lyrics and can sing too. On the same lines, Guru Thakur has, once in a while performed on stage and entertained the audience and earned praises too. But this is the first time that Guru has done playback singing for a feature film. The film’s promotional song is also by Guru Thakur. He has done the writing too of ‘Thamb Kinchit Thamb’ composed by music director Vijay Narayan Gawade.


Guru Thankur is humble in acknowledging that playback singing for the first time is a learning experience. He said, “The premise of KRUTANT is not a regular one and getting an opportunity to playback for such a film is of great importance. This was not a planned thing. I did the writing first and thought of singing erupted later.” He is optimistic that the audience would like the song.Director Dutta Mohan Bhandare feels that along with Sandeep Kularni, who has featured in Marathi as well as Hindi films in a variety role, his unique get up as well as singing by Guru Thakur has raised the curiosity amongst the audience. The story of KRUTANT is a comment on the contemporary lifestyle. The director has picked up the lifestyle of the intellectuals and has written a narrative that will surely prove to be a mirror of the current generation. Today’s fast moving, competitive life that also cuts off from the near and dear ones, relatives, is depicted in the narrative.KRUTANT features Sandeep Kulkarni, Suyog Gorhe, Vidya Karanjikar, Sayli Patil and Vaishnavi Patwardhan. The film releases on the 18th January, 2019.
