Portraying obesity in films has always been a part of the humor. The actors who play an overweight character are often seen presenting the character in a comical way. It is kind of side humor that adds more crisp to the rest of the cast. But it is quite rare to notice films that highlight obesity as the main plot. Hindi films like BADHAAI HO featured Anil Kapoor as an oversized student who looked triple chubbier and Anushka Shetty starrer SIZE ZERO also had some different concept. A 2010 Marathi film AGADBAM starring Trupti Bhoir and Makrand Anaspure charmed up the film with humor and spoke more about body shaming. Trupti who played Nazuka was seen as an obese girl and gets married to Makrand Anaspure, but he doesn't accept her for her oversized physique. As a husband, he feels ashamed of her and insults her all the time. But the end is always destined to be sweet so did finally Makrand accept Nazuka. The film garnered a lot of love from the Marathi audience as it involved comedy and drama.
Last year the trailer for the sequel of the film was released that features Trupti Bhoir yet again as Nazuka and Subodh Bhave in the lead titled as MAJHA AGADBAM. Today Subodh took it to social media to share the poster of the film. Both Trupti and Subodh looked sweet together though being an odd couple in the film. With Tripti's humor and Subodh's drama, the film will definitely win the hearts of many again. Catch the film on 26th of October this year with your partner.
