This week’s major releases, Abhishek-Vicky starrer MARMARZIYAAN, Jackky Bhagnani’s MITRON and the Manoj, Freida and Anupam film LOVE SONIA, could not impress the audience much. The best performance expectedly came from Anurag Kashyap’s MANMARZIYAAN which opened with a 15-20 percent occupancy with MIRON managing a 5-10 percent start while the remaining films, including LOVE SONIA lagging far behind. From the list MANMARZIYAAN has the best prospects as it showed slight pick up during the latter shows (4 crore Ist day) but unfortunately the remaining releases are likely to cut out a sorry figure at the box-office, though miracles do happen, but rarely!

Meanwhile, last Friday’s two main releases , Imtiaz Ali’s LAILA MAJNU and J.P. Dutta’s PALTAN saw a cold response from the audience netting 8 crore and 3 crore (both totals to be validated) respectively during the opening week. Needless to state the obvious outcome!

Concluding with the blockbuster hit, Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer STREE, the film will hit a century anytime today and is likely to continue raking in the moolah for a while. Given the 24 crore all inclusive cost and the gross $1.5m from the overseas, the Krishna D.K and Raj Nidimoru scripted STREE will turn out to be one of the biggest hits of the year, surpassing the totals of many bigger star cast, over hyped ventures.
