CAPTAIN MARVEL: Carol Denvers is here to save the galaxy
Many people tuned into Monday Night Football to watch the game, but for the comic book nerds, the new Captain Marvel trailer the bigger deal. As Marvel announced on Sunday that they would drop the full-length trailer after they released a small teaser a month back. It was just yesterday that Marvel Studios released the powerful new poster of the film and now they have finally unveiled a new trailer for the MCU’s highly anticipated CAPTAIN MARVEL.
This is the second trailer Marvel has released, the film is set to be released only a couple of months before AVENGERS 4. The trailer shows Carol Danvers’ (Brie Larson) as Captain Marvel, a superhero who returns to Earth after years away. Unlike other films within the MCU, CAPTAIN MARVEL is a prequel story. It’s not an origin story, but it does take place years before the events of IRON MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, and THOR.
Captain Marvel's arrival was already teased in the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR post-credits scene, in which Nick Fury called Captain Marvel for help following Thanos completing his goal of wiping out half of all life in the universe. CAPTAIN MARVEL is set in the 90s before all of the events we have seen in the MCU. The movie follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Carol finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the film stars a mix of familiar and new faces in the MCU including Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, Annette Bening, Clark Gregg and Jude Law.
CAPTAIN MARVEL is set to hit theatres on March 8th, 2019.
