Miss World Manushi Chhillar celebrates Nelson Mandela's 100th Birthday in his hometown

Miss World Manushi Chhillar is in South Africa to attend the country's legendary anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela's 100th birthday celebrations. As part of these historic celebrations, Manushi Chhillar was a part of the launch of one of the world’s first 100% compostable menstrual hygiene pads, an initiative which is likely to change the lives of underprivileged women in South Africa.

Remember Manushi Chhillar won the ‘Beauty with Purpose’ title and her project focused on female hygiene and health. Manushi began the Epic Humanitarian World Tour in India and Miss World organization picked Aakar Innovations since all the sanitary napkins are environment-friendly and free of chemicals and plastic. They are also affordable for underprivileged women and girls while it's manufacturing unit offers a sustainable livelihood opportunity in rural settings.

Named ‘Anandi Eco +’ sanitary napkins, they would come as 8 pads also in a 100% compostable pack and are a world game-changer in menstrual hygiene. During the special pre-event that led up to Nelson Mandela's Centenary Celebration in Mvezo, the good samaritans behind the product have shared staggering statistics on the physiological and psychological effects that menstrual cycles have on women, as well as how this technology could be used and the product manufactured and distributed such that it changes the socio-economic circumstances of women locally and across the globe.
