Vishal-Shekhar's music and comedies are the two desired entertaining components in multiplex cinema but still they have collaged only once through rip-roaring GOLMAAL. DE TAALI comes out as second major comical venture where the combination spells magic through loads of funky beat musical entertainment. The expectations are presumed to be high as duo had favorable musical successes with this year releases TASHAN and BHOOTNATH.

"Everybody puts your hands together", the cheerful sounding "thumping-clapping" anthem track comes out as enthralling animated melodic gesture for DE TAALI as it sizzles out vivaciously through the vibrant voices of Sunidhi Chauhan, Anushka Manchandani and Shaan. Its recurring drum beat patterns had similar fling that "Golmaal" (GOLMAAL-FUN UNLIMITED) had and is followed by mix and match of engrossing hip-hop and "qawalli" flavors. Vishal Dadlani's quizzically chirpy wordings have the humorous punches that add substance to the funky flavor of this laugh riot.

The frolicking comical show treadmills to extra miles through similar sounding "De Taali", another "buddy-bonding" fervor treat composed in "yuppie" loving rip-roaring musical outburst. Scriptwriter turned lyricist Abbas Tyrewala makes his first major splash at lyrics writing with impressive fun-loving witty liners like "Tu meri life ki shinning hai, winning hai, dinning hai, woh kaali badal to, tu silver lining hai?" that are likely to be next "mast ki paathshala" vocabulary for Gen X listeners. Shaan's vociferously splurge is simply fabulous and strikes combustible chemistry with oozing Sunidhi Chaiuhan's vocals and bouncy disco beat fillers arrangements. Vishal Shekhar scores a perfect ten in inundating the youthful hilarious musical show through brilliant teamwork. It's likely to be one big surprise at the charts that will surely be appreciating prospects for the album. Do enjoy added stimulating set of funky beat-juggling, DJ scratches and splashes mixed in this chartbusting track as echoing and thumping makes mood eclectic for party animals in enthralling "De Taali (remix)". Chartbuster!!!

After hard core gruffly voice of Vishal Dadlani in almost dozen hip-shaking tracks, its time for sonorously sounding Shekhar Ravjiani oiling out his vocal chords for heavy duty experimentation in seductively composed and rendered "Aaj Main Boond Hoon". Shreya Ghoshal's immaculately pristine rendition takes slender and sensuous route of seduction in moderately punched orchestration. Vishal Dadlani's lyrics deliver the desired sensuality in its modest "watery" wording but Shekhar sounds too unwelcoming to match Shreya's high standards.
"Hone Lagi" brings out R.D Burman's 70's charm into fine blend of sensuality and melody into vocal gestures of impressive sounding Anushka Manchandani and Shekhar Ravjiani. Vishal-Shekhar makes inspiring moves to recreate the magic of "Baahon Mein Chale Aao" (ANAMIKA (1973)) into this tuneful sensuous number. Anushka's changing gears from boisterous singing to smooth sensuous numbers is sheer delight to ears while Shekhar adds brief moments of romanticism in his concise singing. It's "remix" version delivers dosages of sensual femininity that gets transcended to floors with flashy and thumping disco fervor. Rollicking!!!

The movie is about Abhi, (Amu) Ayesha Takia and (Paglu) Riteish Deshmukh, all great friends. Abhi is forever falling in love while Paglu and Amu freeload on various trips abroad. This fact is highlighted when Kartika enters Abhi's life. Kartika, it appears has schemed her way into Abhi's heart while Paglu is hell-bent on seeing Abhi and Amu married. How they try to ward off the 'Kartika threat' is what the movie is all about.

Riteish Deshmukh is adorable. This lad here is going from strength to strength. He has shown that comedy is his forte. Aftab Shivdasani tries hard. Either he is not convinced about the role he is playing or is not able to get into character. Ayesha Takia has surprisingly woken up from her SUNDAY siesta (pun intended). After a long time, she puts in her heart in her role. Rimi Sen delivers in style. As the scheming Kartika, she weighs her options well before plunging into her role. A controlled performance. Sadly, the same cannot be said about Anupam Kher who all throughout the film is reduced to teaching his pet dog to follow his orders. A waste of talent.

It's a good-looking film with good performances but no plot. It also moves predictably. The movie is all about friendship and love, but when the lights dim in the theatre, heralding the start of the film, the music accompanying it gives it a somber mood. As the credits roll on screen, you get an impression that this here is a serious film. But the tempo soon changes as the main cast breaks into a peppy song for no reason. This song could have been used to good effect as the film begins. That is the first grave mistake.

After a few reels, a predictable surprise is thrown in. A second mistake. Finally, when the truth is out, that (Kartika) Rimi Sen had just used the situation to her advantage and her to-be-husband (Abhi) Aftab Shivdasani has no problems, you wonder what the fuss was all about. Also, it does not make sense that she gives up her desire to marry Abhi even as she is in the mandap. A bigger mistake. So even though you think that this movie is going somewhere, it looks up a dead end, thanks to the poor script.
