Directed by Abhishek Dixit, the movie speaks about friendship with an ode to family values as being a Rajshri production. Is this ‘Dosti’ (friendship) the one that our DIL CHAHTA HAI hai? Find out in HUM CHAAR movie review.

Best part of HUM CHAAR?
It does rekindle your care free campus days and has an air of endearing freshness for a while.

Biggest puzzle in HUM CHAAR?
The movie thanks the Animal Welfare Board of India and still I don,t know why? Any clue? Please feel free.

What is the story of HUM CHAAR?
Four friends Namit (Prit Kamani), Manjari (Simran Sharma), Abheer (Anshuman Malhotra) and Surjo (Tushar Pandey) are made for each other gang. The four medical students get separated due to a life changing incident. Four years later a plea for help from Manjari brings them together. Will the reunion reignite the spark and clear their past doubts forms the crux of this movie.

HUM CHAAR sees Rajshri extending the olive branch to the buddy friendship genre. It’s strange and surprising to find that the creators of the classic tale of friendship, brotherhood and humanity DOSTI (1964), the ones who have given the famous adage on friendship in MAINE PYAR KIYA which says, “ Dosti mein no sorry, no thank you” even proudly introduced a hat by the name ‘friend’ later had struggled in the buddy, friendship genre. CHITCHOR, the 1976 soothingly pleasing masterpiece by Basu Chatterjee starring Amol Palekar, Zarina Wahab and Vijayendra Ghatge got remade in 2003 as MAIN PREM KI DIWANI HOON by Sooraj Barjatya starring Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The remake was a dud. HUM CHAAR is not a remake and it’s not a dud but that should not be taken as a compliment. In fact if taken separately as a film ignoring the Rajshri legacy behind, the Abhishek Dixit directed venture is a case of mediocrity and predictability at its best. An old school premise of live wire group of friends getting separated due to an incident and then coming together is used here as well. But all friendship sagas cannot be DIL CHAHTA HAI, bhale kitna bhi maker ka dil chahta ho. Adding instagram and fb to your device doesn,t change your mind set . Abhishek Dixit’s HUM CHAAR after some endearing moment’s and they are quite good plus the camaraderie between the boys is nice for a while. Bit later, the movie starts suffering from identity crises and falls back to its snaskari family thing. It’s a good thing and the idea of friends as family is an adorable idea but here the execution comes as an excuse and seems forced upon failing to add any value. Taking its own sweet time to come to its point, the movie wastes almost the entire 1st half in establishing the bond which should have been instant and adds the drama very late.

Prit Kamani gets the maximum scope and he is passable. Anshuman Malhotra is plain average. Simran Sharma is just a pretty face. Tushar Pandey does justice to his role and Himanshu Malhotra is fair.

Music by George Joseph and Vipin Patwa is a letdown and it’s quite disappointing note that a banner like Rajshri which has normally given proper attention to its music fails.

Final verdict
HUM CHAAR isn,t the ideal coffee time cinema to enjoy with your friends, it’s not that pathetic either which you can play with your group of friends in loop and roast it for pleasure. Its somewhere between with a tagline which suggest that friends can be chosen but you cannot choose your family. After watching HUM CHAAAR the wise man saying, “ life is all about the choices you make and the chance you take” . So, you still have a choice. HUM CHAAR ke saath saath aapko hona ho toh ho
