Movie Review : NIRDOSH - Whose fault is it anyway?
Kuch na kaho.. kuch bhi na kaho.. what to say when we have a Friday bombarded with three thrillers– VODKA DIARIES, NIRDOSH and MY BIRTHDAY SONG. Is there any one plus two offer in cinema halls happening in the thriller genre or it’s a planned move like a cold blooded murder we come across in movies of such genre. Whose fault is it anyway? We don,t know but we have found NIRDOSH guilty of the following crimes.
1: Arbaaz Khan can produced DABANGG and give us Bollywood’s most entertaining cop Chulbul Pandey, even take the legacy forward and direct a money spinning follow up. But as a tough-as-nails cop, his face is stolen from the required expressions. His ‘stone’ washed shirt emotes better than him.
2: Manjari Phadnis is a reasonably good actress who unfortunately lands up in doing duds. Here as Puja Grover – the suspect in this ‘suspect’ thriller ( apart from the maker, only god can know what does a ‘suspect’ thriller means), the actress charged of murdering her neighbor is hysterical almost throughout. Maybe she wants to be free and need better films to showcase her talents to full potential.
3: Ashmit Patel who plays Gautam, Phadnis supportive husband has still not improved on his acting.
4: Mahek Chahal as Ada who starts staying as the paying guest in the house of Phadnis and Patel is hot. But that’s not her ‘dosh’ (fault) though she has some meat in her role, she has to work hard on her vocabulary and dialogue delivery.
5: Mukul Dev as the cheesy, corny neighbor is fantastic but repetitive.
And last but not the least
6: Writer Amit Khan and director duo Subroto Paul and Pradeep Rangwani are guilty of a misconception that clichés sale, if disguised as a ‘suspect’ thriller or a edgy, raw whodunit taking clues from the popular tv show ‘crime petrol’. A constant flow of thrills haunted by the whodunit mystery with snaky and convincing turns makes a day for the thriller enthusiast and the public in general. A murder mystery should toy with the victims, suspects and other characters and not with the audience which unfortunately happens in this case.
