Actor Shreyas Talpade's directorial debut which also is a sort of comeback vehicle for macho man Sunny Deol warrants good music, as both are associated with some chartbusting tracks (especially Sunny). So let's play on!

The playlist kick starts with the recreated and refurbished version of Sunny Deol's very won super hit Daler Mehndi-Alka Yagnik number from ARJUN PANDIT, 'Kudiyan Shehar Diyan'. Tanishk Bagchi seems to be the most sought after composer for reworking on old chartbusters, and as always he does a fine job making the number more contemporary and in sync with the mood (more dance party like). Daler Mehndi and Neha Kakkar make the number work big time.

Composer Rishi Rich dishes up his own very popular brand of music, Punjabi hip hop and pop via 'Kehdi Menoo' which is a nice fun number though he does not really go the extra mile to create something out of the box, as was the requirement as the song is also a sort of title track . Yash Naverkar and Sruti Kakkar render the number with added rap by Ikka.

'Noor-E-Khuda', the superb semi-philosophical, sufi number is situational, very dramatic and inspirational cry to the almighty for help in times of despair. Kailash Kher's spell binding rendition is the highlight of the song which has been put to tune by Sunai Marathe and Shreyas Iyangar with lyrics by Saurabh Pandey.

The playlist comes to a halt with the theme song, 'The Poster Boys Anthem', which is again situational, providing an insight into the story through some apt lyrics by Sonny Ravan who also composes the number along with Shree D who doubles up as the singer. The number talks of a rebellion against the injustices done to the three leads by the government and will make for a dramatic background score.

Summing up, the audio of POSTER BOYS is strictly functional which rides high on 'Kudiyan Shehar Diyan', which incidentally is the only number that will gain some sort of popularity. Not much hard work has been done regarding the music but when its Sunny Pa ji and his gang in an action comedy, even the functional number will work their magic, when the film releases this Friday.

'BALWANT RAI KE KUTTE', a side kick crosses the character of the trendsetting muscleman from Punjab - Sunny Deol and yells at the top of his lungs in one scene, followed by the unforgettable 'Aadmi utha nahi uth jata hai' originally essayed by the action hero who didn't just played the action hero, he reinvented them. Sunny Deol's immediate reaction 'Yeh sahi keh raha hai' will burst you into laughter.

Call it self-deprecating, call it outlandish; call it silly but its undeniable fun, perhaps the most whacky and escapist way to promote male vasectomy, POSTER BOYS starring Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Shreyas Talpade is stuffed with crazy fun that pokes into the stereotype belief of 'mardangi' (machoism) while continuing its joke on the way bureaucracy functions with a cliche mindset in the country.

Inspired by real events, this remake of Sameer Patil directed Marathi comedy POSHTER BOYZ (2014) is a pleasant and amusing debut by Shreyas Talpade as the new mad cap laughter doctor.

Opening with 'Kudiyan Shehar Diyan' sung by Daler Mehndi from Sunny Deol's 1999 hit ARJUN PANDIT, the recreated version by Tanishk Bagchi featuring Elli Avram performing in a mela (fun fair) introduces the 'Jangheti' niwasis - Jagawar Choudhary (Sunny Deol), an ex - army man obsessed with taking selfies, even with those who are hanged upside down from top of buildings by him, Vinay Sharma (Bobby Deol) a shudh Hindi speaking school teacher who goes GHAJINI while speaking and forgets some sentence during conversations, and Arjun Singh (Shreyas Talpade) a typical recovery agent who is obsessed with style of jackets worn by Michael Jackson. An individual photo session at the mela by Jagawar, Vinay and Arjun find themselves in a 'jhamela' (tight spot) after a couple of days when their photos accidently make it to a PSA promoting male vasectomy.

The 'poster' creates big trouble for the infamous trio. The 'fauji' Jagawar's sister's wedding gets called off, the teacher Vinay is threatened with a divorce by his wife Surajmukhi (Samiksha Bhatnagar) and the 'vassooli' ( recovery) agent Arjun's marriage with his sweet heart gets cancelled.

The 'nasbandi' turns into an embarrassing situation for the trio who turn into a butt of jokes that questions their fertility and mardangi. Though their reproductive nerves are intact as their posters is an act of mischief, the trio decide to find out the culprit who is giving them nightmares and making their life a hell.

Sameer Patil who wrote and directed the Marathi original, pens this adaptation and deserves a praise for maintaining the North Indian milieu in this Sunny, Bobby, Shreyas starrer. The cliche mindset over the idea of 'mardangi' all over the country helps and the film is stuffed with crazy happenings every now and then like the 'soldier' ring tone of Bobby Deol's cell phone, the uniform night suit of the teacher's family, the exploitation of the Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol's legacy for the required buffoonery works.

Shreyas Talpade's debut as a story teller shows his likings for screw balls and no brainers the way David Dhawan and Anees Bazmee make their entertainers. An outright celebration of buffoonery and escapism, Shreyas in his debut sticks to the requirement of the genre and makes sure that the idea of male vasectomy doesn't gets crippled during its mad cap run. A passing deja vu of YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA is felt and this may be the reason behind the casting of Deols in this mad cap fun.

POSTER BOYS is colored with entertaining performances by the lead. Starting with Sunny Deol - the Bollywood hunk with such imposing brawn, no matter how much fun is poked at him by comedians, one act artiste etc, Sunny Deol remains an action icon even if he pokes fun on himself and here a side kick does it and his funny amusing approval that comes with an innocence makes the day for fans and the audience in general who have a penchant for screw ball fun.

Bobby Deol is endearing in his avatar as a forgetful school teacher. The uniform night suit, the scooter and the 'soldier' ring tone gives him his moments.

Shreyas Talpade fits perfectly in the typical vasooli agent role designed to amuse the core.

Samiksha Bhatnagar gets scope to showcase her acting skills and she leaves her mark.

Technicalities are passable while production values are rich. Music wise the remix version of 'Kudiyan Shehar Diyan' by Tanishk Bagchi is passable and Elli Avram looks attractive in the number.

On the flip side, the movie gets preachy in the end. Sonali Kulkarni is completely wasted. Those who look for layers, etc will cringe.

All said and done, POSTER BOYS is a crazy, silly, screwball fun. If you have loved the no brainers of David Dhawan, Anees Bazmee and loved the Deols in YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA, then this directorial debut by Shreyas Talpade will amuse you as well.

Rating 3/5
