With so many OTT platforms, millennial’s get to view wide range of shows. However, one of the most pouplar and famous show TVF’s Tripling the first season came out in 2016 is by far the most loved show among masses. And guess what guys! The makers are back with the second season of TVF’s Tripling’s Roadtrip.
The previous season had garnered appreciation for its quirky and eccentric depiction of a sibling dynamics. Written by Sumeet Vyas and Akarsh Khurana (director of Dulquer Salmaan-led Karwaan), the show has been directed by Sameer Saxena. As the show is back with yet another season, the fans are eagerly waiting to see what does this season have in store for them.
TVF’s road trip tripling’s season 2 stars Chandan (Sumeet Vyas), Chitvan (Amol Parashar) and Chanchal (Maanvi Gagroo) with some more rib-tickling moments. In this season we see siblings meeting again and now with a twist as there have been some major changes in the lives of these characters since their last adventure.
Moving forward Chandan(Sumeet Vyas) is now a published author whose book, Tripling, will soon be a movie; Chitvan (Amol Parasher) is a stay-at-home father, and Chanchal (Maanvi) has forayed into politics. Unlike the first season where they set off on an impromptu journey, which ends with them reconnecting all over again, their road trip now transforms into an important operation.
Once again it is a crisis in Chancal's life, involving her husband, Pranav (Kunal Roy Kapur), that necessitates a trip this time in a rented car (Drivezy). Chandan is the same while, Chitwan continues to live in the moment and makes an earnest effort to make ya laugh at the most serious if situations, while Chanchal is the one who is in catch 22 situation as she is the Katrina Kaif of Rajneeti in literal sense, as amidst no where she is into politics.
When the trio meet Chandan, chitwan and Chanchal it reminds us of the age old classical song (Chandan sa badan Chanchal chitwan) ( adding a dash of my personal humor).
Well jokes apart moving ahead with the journey, the terribly terrific trio from Delhi with stops in Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata and final touchdown in Sikkim. The perfect road trip of ZNMD. The destinations are grounds to feature actors such as Kubbra Sait, Gajraj Rao, Shweta Tripathi, Rajit Kapur. Kubbra is a human rights lawyer which makes her relationship with Chitwan. Gajraj Rao and Shweta Tripathi are a royal couple living in a mansion in Lucknow with pigeons and carpets. Rajit Kapur is the odd detective all-too-familiar with Kolkata. All these characters add humor and perfect comic timing to the show.
Kunal Roy Kapur, and Kumud Mishra and Shernaz Patel, as the siblings' retired and hip parents, who made this dysfunctional family endearing first time around.Their first clue takes them to Lucknow, where they meet Nawab Sikander Khan aka Prince Alexander (Gajraj Rao). He rides a tonga, lives in a crumbling palace and is a carpet collector. Rao, who was seen as a doting husband to Neena Gupta in Badhaai Ho, easily steps into the shoes of this comical prince, hanging on to the glory of the past. However, the entire episode focusing on him seems like a garbled mess, making me wonder if the writers had given up at this point. This is when the story begins to lose its way.
The three’s hunt then leads them to Kolkata, where they encounter a private investigator, played by Ranjit Singh, he is an affable old man, who tells them that even though he was out of work, his intelligence network found what Pranav has been up to which he said that their next stop should be Gangtok.A car chase and a stolen scooter ride later, Chanchal finds Pranav at a monastery. A confrontation sequence, which could have been shorter and less illogical, ends with the couple reuniting.
The lead actors' performances as well as the special appearances made by Kubra Sait (as Chitvan's girlfriend Sheetal), Shweta Tripathi (the Nawab's wife Begum Zainab), Rao and Singh are the only saving grace of the show. Vyas is adorable as the elder brother, the voice of reason for his younger siblings while Parashar impresses with his portrayal of the happy-go-lucky Chitvan. Out of all the three, he is the one who seems to have matured the most, happily taking up the responsibility of raising a child. His affection for his elder brother is nothing short of adorable ("Baba, you're beautiful," he tells Chandan).
Talking about the actors Sumeet Vyas as Chandan is serious yet makes you smile with his witty sense of humor. Needless to say Sumeet as Chandan has nailed the character and as righty said by Chitwan , “Baba is beautiful.
While chitwan is the comic angle in the story and his dialogues will crack you up like never before.Chanchal on the other hand is naive and full of mess and certainly Shen is relatable to many of us, her Rajneeti plot makes us go wow..
Besides the performances, there are some memorable witty one liners that will crack you up. Tripling season 2 is indeed a fun watch and all the 5 episodes have something to share and will tickle your funny bones.Enjoy the season 2 if Tvf tripling roadtrip with you friend and we bet you would want to take a road trip with your cousins!
