Even though there are not much expectations from the audio of the stark dramatic thriller, DRISHYAM , yet one does really looks forward to some soul gratifying musical experience, as the composer at the helm of affairs is none other Vishal Bhardwaj (with lyrics by living legend Gulzar) whose last outing HAIDER still lingers fresh in the memory of music aficionados.

The number that stayed with us long after the first teaser of DRISHYAM, 'Ghutta Hai', is certainly worth savouring over and over, despite it being slightly morose and pensive in nature. Reasons: Rekha and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's eclectic renditions, Gulzar Sahab's hard hitting lyrics, Vishal's innovative musical arrangements and a tune that haunts.

'Carbon Copy' questions life itself and it is a light semi-philosophical take on life and destiny. Ash King renders this thought provoking number with ease and emotions but its Gulzar Sahab's lyrics that are actually the highlight, along with Vishal's simplistic arrangements.

'Kya Pataa' is another take on life and its perils and it's a slow drawl sombre situational track about a man fraught with frustrations at his own hopeless situation. Arijit shows his versatility here with a very sedate and mature rendition.

'Kab Kahan' is the rock version of 'Kya Pataa', sung superbly by KK, who is just perfect for this high pitched dramatic number that is almost a throwback to Vishal's own, 'Aao Na'. (HAIDER).

Summing up, the audio of DRISHYAM might carry just three compositions, but it stands up to the expectations of soul gratifying and novel musical experience. Vishal-Gulzar have done it once again after HAIDER (though not a patch on HAIDER), and even though all the numbers are good, our picks are 'Ghutta Hai' and the rock version 'Kab Kahan'. The film releases all over this Friday, and just like HAIDER the situational tracks should garner praise.
