Mubarakan Music Review
There are great expectations from the audio of MUBARAKAN as it is an Anees Bazmee film and without an iota of doubt, the audio of his films has always been chartbusting, be it the WELCOME series or NO ENTRY etc.
MUBARAKAN MOVIE STILLS
The playlist commences on just the right note with 'The Goggle Song'. Well, after 'Kala Chashma', its 'Goggle Song'! Even though Amaal's Punjabi pop 'bhangra' style number carries the same old heard before Punjabi folk tune ('Mundiya Tu Bachke Rahi by Punjabi MC), yet its treatment is different and has been rendered with enthusiasm by a host of talented artists like Sonu Nigam, the Malik brothers themselves and Tulsi Kumar and Neeti Mohan.
'Mubarakan' title track is a chartbusting wedding celebration number, 'Party Waali Night Hai' Mubarakan. Taking inspiration from The Boss, RD Burman('Yamma Yamma' SHAAN) brand of music , the number composed by Rishi Rich & Yash Anand with Badshah chipping in with his much loved rap, the song succeeds in entertaining full on. Juggy D, Yash Navrekar and Sukriti Kakkar pump up the volume with a spirited rendition and keep the party going.
The next number on the playlist, 'Jatt Jaguar' starts off with a Punjabi devotional line (Navraj Hans) but soon enough the number changes into a rhythmic 'bhangra' based number that interestingly introduces the male lead, Arjun Kapoor, who happens to be a Punjabi jatt/ 'Sardar'. Vishal Dadlani renders the number with the right zest and Apeksha Dandekar supports well.
A sad separation number, 'Haathon Mein Thhe Haath ', comes as a pleasant change after a hat trick of fun and frolic numbers. Composed by Gourav Roshin, and rendered by Popon , Aditi Singh Sharma and Arpita Mukerjee , the song makes an impression alright. The tune chosen is quite unique and so are the arrangements with lovely back up chorals by Altamash Faridi who chips in with some lovely qawwali sufi style.
Pakistani pop sensation of the 80's, Hasan Jahangir's 'Hawa Hawa' is already quite a familiar number amongst the people of that generation but the Gen X may have heard it and will surely take a liking to it. Keeping that in mind the song has been refurbished and presented in a new style with new lyrics, rap suiting the situation. Mika Singh does justice to the song with an exhilarating rendition with Prakriti Kakkar giving support in this propositioning number.
For all those missing a good dose of celebrations real desi Punjabi wedding style, 'bhangra' et al, here is Gourav-Roshin's , 'Dil Dhadke Louder Louder', based on ancient Punjabi folk dance number, 'Baari Barsi Khatan Gayasi'. The song kickstarts with the popular folk number 'Kaala Doriyan Kunde Naal'. Rinku Giri and Puja Basnet do a superb job and end the album on a joyous, celebratory note.
To conclude, the audio of Anees Bazmee's MUBARAKAN is quite on the expected lines, in sync with the script and carries the festive, celebratory Punjabi spirit of the movie with some nice and potential chartbusters. 'The Goggle Song', 'Mubarakan', 'Dil Dhadke Louder Louder' are our picks. The songs should ensure a reasonably good opening when the film releases all over, next Friday.
