Raja Natwarlal Music Review
The audio of UTV Motion Pictures' RAJA NATWARLAL, starring music's lucky mascot, actor Emraan Hashmi, and directed by director Kunal Deshmukh, comes loaded with humongous expectations. Need we explain why? Well, the two have had super successful outings like JANNAT and JANNAT 2 to their credit, and even their TUM MILE, which was not commercially successful, had boasted of memorable and superhit music. All the three films had music composed by the then numero-uno composer Pritam, but this time Yuvan Shankar Raja, stylish Tamil film music composer, has been entrusted with the task of helming the music. So let's check out if Yuvan is able to live up to the expectations and deliver.
The song that embodies the spirit of the movie and can also be classified as the theme song, 'Dukki Tikki', highlighting the value of 'paisa' (money) is rendered by Mika Singh in his high on attitude style. The situational track lacks a good fresh tune and even the musical arrangements that are high on south sensibilities may act as a deterrent.
Shweta Pandit excels in the gem of a romantic number, 'Tere Hoke Rahengay', superb addictive tune and rhythm make one fall in love with the song, hook, line, and sinker! Lyrics and background orchestra and arrangements are simply excellent and one is reminded of Pritam of yore through this number. Maybe it was the demand of the makers.
Arijt Singh renders the reprise version of 'Tere Hoke Rahengay' and one is sure that he has another chartbuster to his credit, his first with music's lucky mascot Emraan Hashmi.
Khule aam, Vardha stays in Mumbai and he is made a fool of as the conmen begin their game. Imagine; he comes to India to buy a team at a fake auction!!! Considering he is such a sharp businessman who does not get conned into buying a fake Don Bradman bat because he knows the exact weight of the legend's bat, it is surprising he ventures to buy a team for 100 crores without having an inkling he was being made a fool of.
If I am not wrong, any potential person planning to buy a team would first have all the necessary documents of the team and its composition. Even the middleman or agency, would have a letter of authority from the Association with their phone numbers and email ids if one needs to verify. But no such luck here. It is clearly written on Varda's head ''CON ME''. Either that or the viewers are buzzards!!!
Parveez Shaikh is credited with writing this gibberish, while Kunal Deshmukh gets the honors for direction. Hashmi fans have their dose of lip-locks with Pakistani actress Humaima Mallick, who is the more aggressive here, going straight for his lips in a lift, leaving him no time to react.
Of the actors, it is only Deepak Tijori who impressed me. Even Menon, walks with his butt and chest forcefully out, as though trolling before judges in a Miss India swimsuit round.
