Tanu Weds Manu Returns Music Review
EROS International's TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS, sequel to the super hit TANU WEDS MANU, brings back the original composer Krsna Solo (and lyricist Raj Shekhar) as also guest composer, the experienced (in television and radio) Tanishk-Vayu. Music is expected to be melodious and in sync with the story and is expected to touch hearts like its original.
|TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS WALLAPERS|
Guest composer duo, Tanishk-Vayu come up with 'Banno', that has its inspiration from the popular North Indian folk wedding song, heard previously in DUSHMANI. However it's the lyrics by Vayu Shrivastav that have been changed and adapted well which is the USP of the track. Brijesh Shandilya and Swati Sharma singer render the song with zeal.
'Mat Ja Re' is a lovely somber 'judaai' number sung superbly by Ankit in his very popular characteristic style. Lyrics are simple and so is the mix of Western and Hindustani classical arrangements that adorn the song.
While 'Ghani Bawri' might be all Haryanvi in its soul and its language, but music transcends all boundaries and so this one is universally appealing with its extremely rhythmic and addictive tune, cute and simple Haryanvi lyrics and lovely arrangements. Jyoti Nooran ('Pataka Guddi' HIGHWAY fame) is simply class.
The 'Ghani Bawri' remix might find sectional appeal as the heightened rhythm dilutes the desi feel.
Anmol Malik gets that English accent right with the lovely jazz style all English number, 'Old School Girl' that should fit in with the scheme of things. The first part of the film begins in London.
Kalpana Gandharv's Haryanvi version of 'Old School Girl' is funny and brings a smile to the face.
A situational dramatic song, 'Move On' sung by Sunidhi Chauhan is greatly inspired from 'Bol Beliya' (KILL DILL) especially the 'mukhda'. The lyrics are good and give a new twist to heartbreak song urging the protagonist to move on in life.
Dev Negi's soft slow romantic number 'Ho Gaya Hai Pyar' is simplistic in its nature and will find limited appeal due to its old fashioned style.
It's almost a similar case with Sonu Nigam's love song 'O Saathi Mere' that harks back to the SD Burman days of yore with its Bengali tune. It's just Sonu who manages to catch attention with a free spirited emotive rendition.
The audio of TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS is an interesting and entertaining hear and quite in sync with the script and the story and the composers have delivered as per expectations but shade below that of TANU WEDS MANU, comparatively. Our favourites 'Banno', 'Ghani Bawri' and 'Mat Ja Re'. The songs will attain popularity especially after the release of the film on May 22nd.
