Coming to specifics, while HAPPY NEW YEAR remained the first choice by a big margin, none of the above mentioned new releases made any significant impact at the ticket window.

As far as the opening day goes, the Rekha-Sharman starrer SUPER NANI is faring reasonably at some multiplexes, Abis Rizvi Films’ ROAR is all right at massy centres and single screens. The third release, Rahul Khanna’s FIREFLIES (with limited screenings) is a washout.

Having said that, the family audience can still change the fortunes of SUPER NANI, while the youngsters may just about help ROAR’s cause during the remaining days of the weekend.

Meanwhile last Friday’s Farah Khan directed Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood and Vivaan Shah starrer, HAPPY NEW YEAR, maintained quite well during the working weekdays after a bumper century plus holiday weekend.

As per early estimates HAPPY NEW YEAR has netted 150 crore plus (including dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions) from India. The film is also Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest overseas opening weekend grosser with $8m.
