New releases, FORCE 2 and TUM BIN 2, are fair to ordinary
The new releases of the week, John Abraham’s FORCE 2 and Anubhav Sinha’s TUM BIN 2, both franchises of successful films, failed to entice the audience.FORCE 2 AND TUM BIN 2
Coming to the first release, Abhinay Deo directed FORCE 2, the film managed a dull 15-25 percent start (higher percentage at single screens) with latter shows showing minimal increase in collections. Given the rather high 35 crore raw budget (as per trade buzz), the film has to manage a big pick up during the remaining days of the weekend for any chance of survival at the box-office. The first day is likely to be in the 4-5 crore range.
As far as the second release, Anubhav Sinha directed Neha Sharma and Aditya Seal starrer, TUM BIN 2, is concerned, the film was even lower at around 10-15 percent per cent ( higher percentage at select multiplexes). TUM BIN 2 did not show any significant pick up during the latter shows. Given that a major chunk of the 6.5 crore (raw budget) has already been recovered through an agreement with an online trade portal, TUM BIN 2 has to fare decently to be considered a success. The first day appears to be around the 1 crore mark.
Concluding with the major release of last week, Excel Entertainment’s Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, ROCK ON 2, the film is a washout given the huge release cost (reportedly 75-80 crore) and the fact that it could barely muster 11-12 crore during the opening week from India.
