The new releases of the week, Ram Gopal Varma’s VEERAPPAN, Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin starrer WAITING, Evana Entertainment’s FREDRICK and Radhika Apte’s  PHOBIA, failed to make any mark whatsoever at the box-office.

Just to give a clear picture, the best opening (for argument’s sake!) was for VEERAPPAN at around 10 percent, and the remaining releases well below that.

With HOUSEFULL 3 releasing next Friday and just a week’s window, before it takes over the screens and audience, the new releases have minimal chances of even a recovery status.

Meanwhile, the animated Hollywood release, ANGRY BIRDS saw  a poor start of around 15-20 percent with a few high end multiplexes showing better stats. This follows the ordinary performance of another Hollywood venture, X MEN : APOCALYPSE (23 crore for all versions), just last week.

Concluding with Omung Kumar’s Aishwarya and Randeep starrer SARBJIT, the film could not make a mark at the ticket window, netting 20-21 crore during the opening week from India. And celebrations aside, SARBJIT will be lucky to break even.
