NEWTON director: Immense honour & privilege to win National Film Awards

NEWTON, a comedy-drama film based on how a clerk must face difficulties during election season to conduct a free and fair voting has won Best Hindi Film honour at the 65th National Film Awards.

NEWTON was also India's pick to represent at the Oscars but did not get nominated.

Speaking of this filmmaker Amit Masurkar states that it is an immense honour and privilege to won such a prestigious award. The film gained wide attention for its honest depiction and quality content.
Amit Masurkar was asked if he plans to make a masala commercial film to which he said that he believes NEWTON is a commercial film as the definition of the term is a film that a lot of people watch and that a lot of people want to.

He further said he does not know the meaning of the term 'masala' as it is ever changing.

He also said there might be a sequel but at the moment it is too early to talk about it and that he and the rest of the team will think about it.

Directed by Amit Masurkar and produced by Drishyam Films, NEWTON was released on 22nd September 2017
