Nikhil Advani: We all laughed at Salman Khan when he said let's record 'Main Hoon Hero Tera'
For us, to watch a Bollywood film without music will be so incomplete. And director Nikhil Advani has similar thought and wouldn’t make a film without music!
Probe Nikhil how important an element music is in a film and he says, “I will never make a film without music. Having said that, when you’re making a love story like HERO or for that matter a different love story like KATTI BATTI, music plays a very important role.”
Telling us about how essential music is, he added, “Music is very essential in our lives. You listen to music when you’re happy, sad, celebrating, mourning or everything. Music is a key component of me being able to express what I want to say.”

Talking about music, we further spoke to Nikhil about the title track of HERO, ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’ composed by Amaal Mallik. We told him that both the versions, Salman’s & Armaan’s versions have become really popular and are topping the charts. To this Nikhil said, “I feel really bad for Armaan. He has sung it really well.”
When we told him that Armaan’s version is also popular and is loved just as much as Salman’s, Nikhil did not seem to agree with us. He said, “No it isn’t because Salman is Salman. He has got views which are unheard of in terms of any kind of a song.”
But he definitely knows that Salman has given the song his own touch and made it even special. “Having said that, Salman has also sung it in a very unique way.”
He further told us that initially they laughed it off when Sallu bhai said he wanted to sing ‘Main Hoon Hero Tera’. Nikhil said, “Salman isn’t a singer, he liked the song so much that he said lets go to the recording studio and record it. We all laughed at him and the next thing he was inside the car and said, ‘what are you guys waiting for, let’s go and do it’.”Also Read - Salman Khan's HERO Sooraj Pancholi reveals 4 things we didn't know about him
Salman’s version of the song became a hit and the director was in a dilemma when he had to pick one version for the film, but he eventually used both. “I think Salman has done a very good job and they had put me into a fix because I didn’t know which to use in the film. Now, both the versions are there in the film,” said Nikhil.
Both the versions are now a part of the film, but initially, the song was nowhere even a part of the HERO album. When asked Nikhil about it, he said, “Absolutely. It wasn’t supposed to be a part of the film because we were looking for a song to end the film with and Salman always wanted a song to end the film with and I think he heard Amaal; Amaal went to Salman with the song and Salman then called me and I said ok, I’ll come and hear it.”
We feel music is indeed important for a film and since the music of HERO has caught up well the audience, let’s hope it helps the film too. And Nikhil, according to us, Armaan has done a good job with the song. He is getting the appreciation he deserves.
