PADMAN V/S PADMAVAT, confident Prerna Arora speaks
While the Viacom 18 Motion Pictures is still to finalize the details of its release plans of PADMAVATI (now PADMAVAT) officially, one of the producers of PADMAN Prerna Arora from Kriarj Entertainment oozes with confidence and says the Akshay Kumar starrer helmed by R Balki will achieve its goal to entertain, enthrall and enlighten the audience in spite of the competition from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial period drama that also is allegedly speculated to hit the screens on the same day January 25 2018.
We at glamsham.com got in touch with the busy women producer who has made her mark as a filmmaker to look out for within a short period of time. With her banner Kriarj Entertainmnet poised to make a significant mark in the year 2018 packing the year with 7 releases starting with Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor starrer PADMAN inspired from the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu, Prerna Arora says that the shifting the release of PADMAN from January 26 to a day earlier was not on the speculation of PADMAVAT coming on January 26. She says, “ We knew that the makers of PADMAVAT will be looking for an early release after getting the censor certificate, we have made our official announcement much earlier and Akshay sir decided to have a release a day before the republic day to cash on the buzz and attain maximum footfalls thereafter”.
Prerna Arora is confident that the subject of PADMAN is a need of the hour and the socially relevant theme will find its way not only amongst the Indian audience but globally as well. “PADMAVAT is an important film but PADMAN is special for us and we are hopeful that both the films find its audience”.
When quipped on the concerns of screen share in future, regarding the controversy surrounding PADMAVAT that stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, Prerna says, “We have made the announcement early and screen count has been decided by SPE the joint producers and distributors of PADMAN, the movie will reach its target audience”.
When asked on the fear of the clash resulting in business of PADMAN getting eaten by PADMAVAT and vice versa, Prerna says, “ Good content will always bring the desired results, citing the example of BAAHUBALI : THE BEGINNING and BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN, she concludes by saying, “ We are confident that PADMAN will deliver as a film, just as the case of BAAHUBALI : THE BEGINNING which went on to increase its audience especially in the Hindi belt even after the release of super star Salman Khan’s BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN in the following week, business for both the films was flourishing and in the end both wrote their own history, hope that PADMAN and PADMAVAT both emerge as winners”.
