In recent days it was widely reported that Quentin Tarantino was set to write and direct a new STAR TREK film with writer Mark L. Smith attached to the project. The news had brought a new life to the dying franchise which was not living up to its potential since J.J. Abrams had brought the franchise back into popular culture in 2009.

The news had received mixed reactions from the fan base as some fans wanted a fresh approach to the franchise while some others opposed to Tarantino’s attachment stating his filmography.

During the Paramount Pictures presentation at the 2018 CinemaCon conference in Las Vegas they announced that there are two STAR TREK movies in the making without giving away further information about the project.

Actor and writer Simon Pegg who had been involved throughout this franchise and helped write STAR TREK BEYOND had spoken about Quentin Tarantino’s involvement in the franchise and his meeting with J.J. Abrams.

This is certainly exciting news for the millions of fans and it remains to be seen what is in store for the franchise with the projects announced to be made.

With more projects like the TOP GUN sequel, TRANSFORMERS spinoffs and the continuation of the CLOVERFIELD series, Paramount pictures might just turn their fortunes around releasing a host of exciting movies for the future.
