Parvin Dabas goes scuba diving
For the first time in India an exhibition of underwater photography is being unveiled. Stunning images from the underwater world - fish, corals, macros and creative abstracts, which will amaze you with their breath taking colours. The images in this exhibition have been captured in Redang and Sipadan, both Malaysian islands.
Parvin Dabas picked up the camera as a kid and casually pursued photography till March 2000 when he began scuba diving and taking underwater pictures. He has been capturing the beauty of the ocean ever since. This is his first exhibition.
Parvin has nurtured a love and hate relationship with water since his childhood. But his fascination always overcame his fear as from being a regular swimmer he expanded to snorkeling. The first time he put his head underwater in Thailand, he was hooked on to this amazing new world which he had only seen in National Geographic and Discovery channel programmes till then.
He decided to further this passion by doing a scuba diving course and immediately followed it up with an underwater photography course, both in Phuket, Thailand. The combination of a fascination for the underwater world and his long-term hobby provided the catalyst to create a serious passion for photography with a special emphasis on underwater imaging.
Since March 2000 he has been scuba diving and taking pictures in places as diverse as the Great Barrier Reef, Australia, Redang and Sipadan in Malaysia, Kohsamui and Phuket in Thailand and Goa, Nethrani and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India.
Parvin Dabas is an actor who has starred in films such as Monsoon Wedding, The Hero, Muskaan, Yehi Hai Zindagi, & Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye. His forthcoming films include Khosla Ka Ghosla, Tumse Milkar, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Maara, The Memsahib and The Curse of King Tut's Tomb.
