Journalist Ram Kamal Mukherjee gets a break!
Film producer Pritish Nandy has signed the ex-editor of Illustrated Weekly, journalist and author Ram Kamal as the Vice President, Special Projects for Pritish Nandy Communications. Till recently Ram Kamal has been the Assistant Editor and Sunday columnist at Mumbai Mirror in The Times of India Group. He brings with him six years of experience in journalism, having worked in The Asian Age (Kolkata) and Stardust, India's highest circulated film magazine.
Starting his career as a freelance journalist with Screen Film Weekly in 1995, Ram later joined The Asian Age publication in Kolkata as Sub-Editor in Features Department in 2001. He later shifted his base to Mumbai in 2003, when he joined Stardust as Senior Correspondent. During this time he wrote a coffee-table book on actress Hema Malini. 'Diva Unveiled-Hema Malini' which was published by Magna Books and he won accolades from media and film industry for his research on Hema. He remains the youngest biographer in India, who has written a book on a Bollywood personality at the age of 27. He was honored with Best Journalist Award thrice in Kolkata and also in Mumbai by The Lions Club, Versova. He also won Best Author Award for his book on Hema Malini in Kolkata.
Ram Kamal is currently freelancing for Midday, Ananda Bazar Patrika, Metro Now, etc. In PNC he will be working on various upcoming projects, which include Boutique Multiplex and will be involved as the casting director of PNC films. "I came to meet Rangita Nandy for an interview for a National daily and after the interview she asked whether I would like to do something different. Rangita is a dear friend, and she offered me this role. I always wanted to be a part of this film industry and I am glad that PNC is giving me the creative freedom," says Ram Kamal. He is also helping Hema Malini in her next production which will star Rekha and Esha Deol. He will be a part of Hema's creative team.
