The news having doing the rounds that over 105 members from the film industry have join hands and filed a petition against Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to the Kerala government that he should not be invited as the Chief Guest to the annual state film awards to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in August. Reason being? Well, as per the reports the superstar is facing the ire of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) for revoking the suspension of accused actor Dileep’s membership of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). Dileep is an accused in the 2017 kidnapping of an actress.
So the reports were rife that people from all walks of life including actors, writers, directors, etc took a stand against Mohanlal. Those who wrote the letter to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Culture Minister A.K. Balan included award winning actor Prakash Raj, eminent writers N.S. Madhavan, Sethu and Sachidanandan, actress Rima Kallingal and Geethu Mohandas.
However, Prakash Raj clarified that he hasn’t signed any memorandum against Mohanlal attending Kerala State film Awards in a video posted on his social media account. Prakash Raj, who is known for his villainous roles in Bollywood and a huge name to reckon with in southern film industry, went on to clarify that he has neither signed any such petition nor he is aware of it. And the news about him is totally false. Take a look at Prakash Raj’s clarification here:
