Rajkumar Hirani: Sanjay Dutt wasn't scared how will be portrayed in biopic
The teaser for the much awaited Dutt biopic was launched today and it showed the intimate life of the troubled superstar.
Due to scheduling conflicts Sanjay Dutt wasn’t able to attend the teaser launch for his biopic as he was filming in Kyrgyzstan.
However, the team of SANJU was in attendance though and gave a glimpse into what it took to make this film possible, Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra was hesitant initially to make the film as he repeated his claim throughout the event but was interested after reading the script of the film.
Sanjay Dutt was of immense help during the pre-production phase of the film as he opened up his life and revealed incidents which former United States President knowing him as Munna Bhai and meeting Nelson Mandela in his life.
The teaser showed many aspects of Sanjay Dutt’s life to which Ranbir said that playing the 22 year old Sanjay Dutt was the most difficult and the most fun was the Munna Bhai phase.
Director Rajkumar Hirani said, “Biopics can be very one-sided. But this is a biopic with all perspectives and is a very open biopic. Sanju has been brave enough to spell it out honestly to us. He is not scared how he will be portrayed. He has opened up about his life and said ‘say what you want to, this is how my life is.’ I think he is a very brave man.”
More details will be known in the coming days and the trailer for the film will hopefully give us more insights into the rest of the cast and the film.
The film is scheduled to release on 29th June 2018
