The next edition of the YPD franchise, Sunny Sounds Pvt Ltd and Pen India Pvt Ltd’s YAMLA PAGLA DEEWAANA: PHIR SE could not really appeal to the audience managing an ordinary 10 percent start, that along with the not so positive reviews and feedback, doesn’t augur well for the Deol (s) starrer. The other new release, Maddock Films and D2R Film Pvt Ltd’s STREE managed a decent 30 percent start, and given the positive reviews and audience feedback, the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer is likely to score at the box-office.

Meanwhile, last week’s two releases, the Jimmy Sheirgill, Sonakhshi Sinha, Ali Fazal and Diana Penty starrer HAPPY PHIRR BHAG JAYEGI and Anil Sharma’s Utkarsh, Nawaz venture GENIUS, failed to appeal to the audience. Having said that HAPPY PHIR BHAG JAYEGI did manage a 17 crore week while GENIUS turned out to be a washout netting just 5 crore, both totals to be validated.

Coming to the second week of the Independence Day releases, both the films fell heavily, while Akshay Kumar’s GOLD added 13 crore, SATYAMEVA JAYATE netted 10 crore. What it means is that GOLD has netted 102 crore in two weeks (16 days) from India and is an above average fare and SATYAMEVA JAYATE has managed 85 crore during the same period and is a semi-hit, taking into account the involved release costs, terms of release and recovery.
