Will one film maker's title gain be another person's loss?
It could well be when both Ram Gopal Varma and Sangeeth Sivan would in all likelihood be seeing their films releasing on the same day i.e. 31st August. On one hand Ram Gopal Varma is struggling to get the title finalized for his version of 'Sholay' [last heard it is 'Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag' that sits right at the top of short listed titles], on the other Sangeeth Sivan is all set to call his Nana and Bobby starrer as 'Ek - The Power Of One'.
So what's common here? Well, while Ram Gopal Varma is fighting his own battles for 'Sholay', he is also seeing the title of his most ambitious project till date slip away right under his nose. Readers may remember that a few years back, Ramu had announced a film title 'Ek' that was supposed to feature number of bigwig actors with Amitabh Bachchan leading from the front.
A thriller, the project couldn't move ahead of the announcement stage but the title continued to stay on with him. Meanwhile Sangeeth Sivan was keen to name his Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster 'Athadu' as 'Ek' and after waiting for months he finally decided to go for it by adding on the tagline 'The Power Of One'.
One wonders what Ramu has to say on this, especially since he too is riding the same boat. Sangeeth has found his way out, will Ramu turn lucky too?
Interestingly Anant Mahadevan directed VICTORIA NO. 203 could release on August 31st too. Nevertheless, he is not facing the same issues as Ramu or Sangeeth since he is only remaking the 1972 oldie for the same producers!
