Ever since we got to know that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were coming together for Imtiaz Ali’s next TAMASHA, it got us excited. As Imtiaz has a track record of churning out some delightful full-of-life films, he has worked with Ranbir & Deepika individually (in the films ROCKSTAR and LOVE AAJ KAL respectively) and Ranbir-Deepika’s pairing has also done wonders in the past, all the eyes were set on TAMASHA. So, even we pinned some high hopes from Ranbir-Deepika’s TAMASHA trailer that released today and expected it to be extraordinary. We thought, much like Imtiaz’s past films, TAMASHA would also leave us spellbound.

Though the film looks quite interesting, it takes us through the same old journey that Imtiaz has been exploring in his films (which have become a cliché now). We yet again meet the usual type of characters, who either decide to do some unusual stuff or plunge into an impromptu trip or take a pause from the mundane life to discover a new world. The hero meets his heroine on the move. Together, they hang-out, turn experimental, let their hair down, share a great compatibility and yet pretend to be the two-strangers-turning-into-best-buddies. And what next? Well, after departing from each other and getting back to their normal lives, the duo fall for each other (as expected) and are head-over-heels in love. Something that we have been witnessing in Imtiaz’s movies like JAB WE MET, ROCKSTAR, LOVE AAJ KAL, HIGHWAY, SOCHA NAA THA from day one.

TAMASHA also treads on a similar path. But, the kind of vigor and madness we beheld in his past movies, the kind of impact that his characters left on us, seems to be missing here. Certainly, TAMASHA is packed with beautiful locales, crackling chemistry of Ranbir-Deepika yet it’s a bit low on energy. The trailer well begins on a high note introducing Ranbir & Deepika’s crazy antics but eventually turns more dramatic. Overall, this Ranbir-Deepika’s ‘Tamasha’ lackluster and fall short on our hugely anticipated expectations!
