Rani Mukerji shows how to overcome hurdles with this energetic ‘Oye Hichki’ anthem
As promised the first song ‘Oye Hichki’ of Rani Mukerji’s comeback film HICHKI is out. Crooned by Harshdeep Kaur ‘Oye Hichki’ is an inspiring song composed by Jasleen Royal.
In the song we see Rani riding a scooty in the by lanes of a chawl and thereby calling out all her students(She is playing a teacher in this film). Just like the film’s theme this song highlights how one should overcome the hurdles and in fact turn them into a stepping stone and move ahead in their life.
A girl with a prosthetic leg is keen about dancing while other dusky girl decides to be the way she is and not comply with the societal norms of looking fair.
Rani along with her students is trying to bring in the change that they themselves wish to see in the society. The song also tries to show how transgender are part of this society and are not ‘hichki’. All these ‘hichki’ is not something that one can get rid of by drinking water it can only be removed by changing one’s mentality.
Choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, the lyrics of the song are penned by Jaideep Sahni.
