Ranvir Shorey was thoroughly wasted in AAJA NACHLEY, NO SMOKING and HONEYMOON TRAVELS PVT. LTD. Meanwhile, he played a second fiddle to Rahul Bose in PYAAR KE SIDE EFFECTS and Parvin Dabas in KHOSLA KA GHOSLA but still came up trumps.
However, post MITHYA, no film maker would ever imagine to have him play a secondary role, even if someone bigger is out there in the main lead. This is pretty much evident in four of his upcoming films SINGH IS KINNG, CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, UGLY AUR PAGLI and I AM 24.
Even though Akshay Kumar is the main lead in SINGH IS KINNG and CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA, directors Anees Bazmee and Nikhil Advani are ensuring that Ranvir has a major role to play in these two films which are meant to be action entertainers.
On the other hand Ranvir has all on him to run the show in UGLY AUR PAGLI as he is the main lead in this film produced by Pritish Nandy Communications. To add to the fun, he even has Mallika Sherawat for company. Moreover I AM 24 sees him returning with his MITHYA team of producer Arindam Chaudhuri (of Planman Motion Pictures), Rajat Kapoor (who plays the central protagonist in the film), Saurabh Shukla (who dons the director's hat) and Neha Dhupia.
When contacted, Ranvir said, 'I have been honest with my work over the years regardless of the length of my role. I am happy to see my work being appreciated on a consistent note. What continues to hold prominence though in my film selection is the character I portray.'
It is going to be a busy year ahead for the actor as he has at least three more movies lined up in addition. First to arrive would be SIRF - LIFE LOOKS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE. The other two films are TEESRI MANZIL and GOOD LUCK.
Well, 'good luck' Ranvir!
