Shirish wins award, rescued by Farah
It has been close to a year since the Christmas release of TEES MAAR KHAN and seems like there are some belated awards that the film is eventually seeing coming its way. To the pleasant surprise of many out there (including the recipient Shirish Kunder himself), this Farah Khan directed film bagged yet another award (other than quite a few that it has added to its repertoire, courtesy 'Sheila Ka Jawaani') in the form of 'Best New Composer'. What is quite amusing though is the fact that Shirish wasn't aware of the award coming his way till Farah Khan collected it on his behalf and brought it home.

Says a source, 'Shirish was the guest composer for the theme track 'Tees Maar Khan' that had played right through the film's narrative. Even though Vishal-Shekhar composed 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' was the pick of the lot, 'Tees Maar Khan' had seen quite some appreciation and fan following coming it's way due to its lively tempo. It has been a hot favourite on ringtones as well. This was recognised by Tellychakkar who awarded Shirish as 'Best New Composer'.'
Editor turned writer/director Shirish, who is currently making JOKER, has been a closet composer since the JAAN-E-MANN days where he is said to have contributed immensely to the making of the music. When he did TEES MAAR KHAN title track though, he wasn't aiming for awards. This is the reason why he wasn't paying much heed to nominations and was clueless even when his name featured for 'Tellychakkar Awards'.
'While working in JOKER, he keeps his cellphone aside,' the source continues, 'The award organisers had to finally dial Farah's number and inform her of the awards. Since Shirish was travelling, she couldn't have a conversation with him. She went to Mehboob Studios where the event was held and collected the award on Shirish's behalf.'
Other prominent celebrities who graced the event were Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Tanushree Dutta, Arjan Bajwa, Shibani Kashyap, Ramesh Taurani, Nagesh Kukunoor, Boney Kapoor, Yukta Mookhey and Lalit Pandit.
