One of the most famous stars of Indian popular music, Sonu Nigam, is heading towards Germany in October 2007. Sonu Nigam, well-known as "the voice of Shah Rukh Khan" in a variety of Bollywood blockbusters, is giving live concerts in Offenbach (26th Oct, Stadthalle), Essen (27th Oct, Grugahalle) and Hamburg (29th Oct, Alsterdorfer Sporthalle).
According to the German promoter Bollywood International Entertainment Ltd., all contracts with the artist and event locations are signed. From 27th to 31st October, 2007 the manager of Sonu Nigams, Mr. Ben Thomas from Mumbai, will be in Germany in order to meet any press inquiries.
At present, Sonu Nigam is one of the most versatile playback singers of the Indian subcontinent. Since the beginning of the 90s Sonu has made a name for himself lending his voice to various Bollywood actors in films like "Main Hoon Na" or "Veer-Zaara". The theme from "Kaal Ho Naa Ho" gained cult status. In particular, Sonu Nigam is idolized due to his numbers of solo albums. As a juror of "Indian Idol", the Indian pendant of the German casting show "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" he received an enormous degree of popularity.
In 2006, Sonu Nigam started his "Simply Sonu" tour throughout the USA breaking all record attendances. Because of high public demand, Sonu Nigam is now going to Germany for the first time within a tour, alongwith more than twenty Bollywood dancers and singers.
