So, if you cannot join them so mock them but Kate McKinnon as Morgan confesses that ‘we are semi-professionals at this point ’ the wannabe female buddy spy comedy THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME by Susanna Fogel gets the talented comedians but fails to get the required laughs.

Coming with a desire to continue from where Austin Powers left with a cracking idea that mocks the 1977 classic THE SPY WHO LOVED ME featuring Roger Moore but fails to do it better.

Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis are 30 + BFF’s who get involved in an international intelligence operation. The script by Susanna Fogel and David Iserson has little in store as far as the giggles are concerned for the 116 minutes runtime. As it progresses, it gets cheesy and old fashioned with deadly assassins, a top secret device. The ladies however deliver and hit the core with their antics and mannerisms both Kunis and McKinnon stand out.

Problem begins when Susanna Fogel tries to fit a thrilling action movie full of car chases, gunfire and explosions out of sheer ambition in this wannabe buddy spy parody and ruins it as the movie runs out of ideas and giggles and surrenders to toilet humour.

Ironically, THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME whenever ‘dumps’ the spy zone and leaves Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis on their own is at its best. But we wanted to see the known comic talents of Kinnon and Kunis set the stage on fire but alas the writer director fail to utilize the potential and that’s more disappointing then actually not getting a buddy spy parody right. Having two fantastic comedians and making a mockery of their comic talents in the name of a mockery on spy genre needs to be investigated. Melissa McCarthy as SPY again may find some answers to this irony.
