Shreyas Talpade recently made a very good impression in AGGAR where he played a mature psychiatrist. Now in his upcoming DIL DOSTI ETC., he gets into a different mould altogether as he turns into a Delhi University student leader while originally hailing from Bihar.
Here he talks about how he consented to playing the part in this Manish Tiwary film.
'Manish sent me a message stating that he was doing a film for Mr. Prakash Jha and he wanted to meet me for that', he informs, 'This was immediately after the release of IQBAL. He said that he had liked my work and thought that I would be the right person to play that part.'
What was his reaction to the role? 'I felt that overall the script was pretty interesting. Even though initially I had my doubts about it, I liked the character which he offered me. This was because after IQBAL, the kinds of offers that I was getting were more of 'seedha saadha gaon ka ladka' kinds. Otherwise, they used to be for some sports film. After cricket, film makers thought that let's take him for Table Tennis, Badminton or Boxing.'
Why was he apprehensive of picking up such roles? 'See, I was not really interested in another sports film after IQBAL. On the other hand the character that Manish offered me had a lot of shades which was pretty interesting. Not many people would have offered me that kind of character at that point of time. I liked the whole approach, the script, things like that. Also, whatever doubts which I had, I cleared them with Mr. Jha', informs Shreyas who is today getting some of the most interesting characters to play.
After DIL DOSTI ETC., his next release would be OM SHANTI OM, where he plays Shahrukh Khan's buddy from the 70s.
