After having recently wrapped up the Mahesh Manjrekar-directed LIFE HO TO AISI, producer, Sangeeta Ahir, is all set to produce Mahesh Manjrekar's next film BIG BAZAAR. Manjrekar had announced his plans to make the film after Sangeeta and her politician husband, Sachin Ahir, had mooted the idea some time back, but he was eagerly waiting for a confirmation from them on their decision to produce the film. According to Sangeeta, BIG BAZAAR, discusses the sorry plight of hapless mill workers in Mumbai, who disappeared from the scene when mills were closed down abruptly and the mill-land was sold for commercial purposes. "No one has bothered to find out what happened to those families and how they eked out a living. BIG BAZAAR, tells the tale of these families," Sangeeta reveals.
Sangeeta points out that she did not give it a second thought when Mahesh Manjrekar approached her with the idea. "I was impressed with one-line story when Mahesh narrated it to me. He has come up in life from the grass-root level and identifies with the problems of the common man. The fact that my husband, Sachin, is the president of the R.M.M.S. (Rashtriya Mill Mazdoor Sangh), helped me to understand the subject better. That's when I gave Mahesh a clear go-ahead for the film."
Sangeeta is planning to rope two big stars for the film. "One of them ranks in the number one position today and we have already spoken to him," she says.
Meanwhile, she is readying LIFE HO TO AISI for a November release. "The film has extensive special effects and has shaped up excellently. In fact, it has been very close to Mahesh's heart. Right now though he is obsessed with BIG BAZAAR," she says.
