As we had predicted in our last box-office report, last Friday's TAARE ZAMEEN PAR has picked up after a slow start. The pick-up was gradual on the second day, but was very pronounced on the third day, that is Sunday.
Aamir Khan's directorial debut masterpiece is riding high on extremely positive word of mouth and is being patronized predominantly by the families, obviously accompanied by children.
An interesting offshoot of the above is that the well placed and picturised songs (Shankar-Ehsaan -Loy), are catching the fancy of the audience. As a result, the excellent audio album, which was languishing in the bottom-half of the top ten for quite a while (due to some poor publicity), has seen quite an upsurge.
It once again confirms (after CHAKDE! INDIA) that the audience is ready for experimentation, via good music and meaningful lyrics, and not just commercial cacophony. Let?s hope the same can be said about this beautiful, creative work of art that Aamir Khan has offered the film buffs, and that TAARE ZAMEEN PAR spins its magic at the box-office too.
