It is one coincidence that no one could see coming. But it's true that it has happened.
After endless sagas of 3-4-5-6 married couples dominating the Bollywood scene for the first quarter of 2007, it would be time for as many as three films with 'train' as a common element to hit the marquee this summer. Thankfully each of the three films has a contrasting storyline with nothing else but 'train' as a metaphor being a common factor.
And to think of it, they all may end up releasing one week after another, if not on the same day.
Month: May - The time period when these three films would be arriving. While May 18 is the confirmed date for Emraan Hashmi-Geeta Basra-Sayali Bhagat THE TRAIN to arrive, LIFE IN A...METRO has finalized its release date to be May 11. On the other hand EK CHALIS KI LAST LOCAL has to decide between the two Fridays ever since it's original plan of arriving on April 20 had to change due to TA RA RUM PUM being quite a formidable competition a week later.
On enquiring about the release timing Raksha Mistry, co-director of THE TRAIN said, "We are 100% coming on May 18, that's final. The promos have just been released on air and we are going ahead with the music launch in mid-April. There are not going to be any changes to our plan."
On his part, director Anurag Basu said, "At the moment May 11 seems to be the most feasible date for us, no more pushing around seems likely. This is the target we have set for ourselves hence there is no room for any further delay."
Meanwhile debutant director Sanjay Khanduri, who is currently devising an extended strategy to account for the 3-4 week delay of his ECKLL delay says, "I am in the talks with the producers. We are closely monitoring the progress of other films and how we would be sustaining our film's promotion. It could be any of the two dates, May 11 or May 18 for us but let's wait for a formal closure of plan."
