Just when you thought the films of the nineties were well and truly buried in the inner recesses of our mind, come along films like HAT-TRICK, KYA LOVE STORY HAI and the more recent GOOD BOY BAD BOY. Clearly, on the one hand Indian cinema is making waves internationally (RANG DE BASANTI, PAHELI, LAGAAN?) and on the other we have producers investing money on insipid projects that, I dare say, even they know is an exercise in futility. Even the audience who once sat through these flicks because of no other choice now reacts with sharp criticism at such projects that find its way through the multiplex. As for the actors, do we blame them for being a part of such movies? Certainly, we expect them to be more judicious in their choice of selection. Thank God we have actors like Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan and the likes who concentrate on just a couple of movies a year!
